The Mask Will Eventually Fall

People. What different perceptions do everyone have about this one syllable? They have such a strong hold on what you do, how you feel, how you think? They can shake you and break you or they can influence you and help you. They are such a unique species. When God made us, he had no idea that we would turn out so evolved and would be such great thinking minds. If you think about it, we can do anything, we are at the top of the food chain, we have invented such great things,we have accomplished so many things in a span of just a few years. Then how did we turn into such manipulative, double-faced and negative beings?

This complex and thought-provoking question has a very simple answer. We got lost. That’s it. These three words answer why everything got so complicated. We forgot who we are, we conformed, we gave in, we became fake. We learnt how to use people for our benefits, we learnt how to think of our advantages first, we realized that sharing was a sin, kindness became a vestigial organ of our body, that was thought to be embodied only in our ancestors. We learnt curse words, we learnt the easy-way of living. Hard work became a foreign word that belonged to a language that is no longer in use, in a country that got submerged under a sea of comfort and luxury.

We all wear masks. Everyone, everyday. We wear it for so long that we forget who we are.The biggest sin of all is that it became our favorite accessory to wear. Cavemen began using leaves as clothes to keep them warm, eventually learning the best way to use nature as their materials and their hands as their factory to produce items of their use. Nowadays, with actual factories, the material remaining the same, effort has somehow reduced as people have realized you look best when you have worn less( I refer to the thought process of girls) And as these items have reduced, masks have started to adorn otherwise beautiful faces.

We have multiple personalities for numerous occasions and a variety of events. We may be a clown for someone, and a the shy girl to someone else. We may be the ideal daughter to one, and a spoiled brat to another. The adjectives are endless.

Why is it that we want to hide so much from the world? Why doesn’t anyone attempt to look behind the facade. Why don’t we want to dig deeper? While doing a research project,  those who write-in all their information from Wikipedia , because its the first link that pops up, gets a poor grade. But those who go beyond the first page and look for other links have a hike in their knowledge and gather more than the former would have. These are the A-grade people.

Acceptance seems to have reduced nowadays. One has come to realize that being true to yourself will not get you an approval into the popular crowd. Telling lies, and adapting yourself to the world instead of the other way round is what even Charles Darwin said right? We are just following a great legend. What’s wrong in that?

IT IS WRONG! He has rightly said that ‘ It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the one most responsive to change.’ We have changed ourselves to survive not to live. We are not animals. We don’t have to survive. We have built ourselves this lifestyle so that we could grow and embark on different opportunities that are yet to be discovered. If we stick to the way that we used to think, “by staying in the crowd”, “by walking the road more traveled” , how are you going to be unique? You cannot want to be a part of the crowd and stand out in it at the same time.

Time has come where we drop the mask. Its the best time to do so.Eventually everyone else’s will fall of. And they are unlucky enough that it will happen when the world catches them red-handed. You have the choice to do it now. To show the world falseness is something you will not tolerate or cultivate. The mask is temporary, you are permanent. Live each day with the satisfaction that you have contributed something worthwhile to the world. Don’t play any part on this stage.

Fake people have an image to maintain, real people just don’t care. Stay real. Don’t waste energy doing something that gives you momentary happiness or none at all. Even make-up lovers have to take their make-up off at some point or it just creates a mess. Take it off and start living the life you dreamed of. Don’t let hurdles hog you down. Be natural. This is how you give birth to extraordinary…

Miss Not-So-Popular

Shying away in the corner, never being in the spotlight, having a select few friends who you can talk to, having to face the embarrassment when someone you know for quite sometime asks you who your name is…

Not being popular has become this social drawback in today’s world. Particularly in school life. Not being known by all your juniors, in fact most of your classmates, is a part of it all. People look down upon you and think that there is something wrong with you due to the fact that you don’t like to put up a show or you don’t like being in the limelight. Not being in the crowd may seem devastating but believe me one notion about being popular is quite often ignored.. It won’t last!

Life is not school. Those who are popular now, who knows where they would end up in a later part of life. Being popular will not get them into a good college, being popular will not get them a good job, it has no advantages except that it makes you feel good. But wouldn’t you rather prefer being popular and successful in life rather than at school? Wouldn’t you rather feel better about yourself when you are working towards your future, than spending late nights at parties wasting away the hours?

C.Joybell.C has beautifully said ‘Don’t yearn to be popular; be exquisite. Do not desire to be famous; be loved. Do not take pride in being expected ; be palpable, unmistakable.’ Popularity is relative. Among your friends you may be popular, among your family you may be popular, in your school, at your workplace, in your community anywhere. And if still not that’s the best thing, because you have managed to not let yourself get lost in people’s judgements and opinions of you. Don’t let the sinking feeling ever overwhelm you. Don’t let that breakdown drown you in a sea of lonely and hateful thoughts.

No one has the right to label you. No one has the right to define your personality. Someone’s opinion about you doesn’t become your reality. It is just their opinion. You know who you are and you need to live up to that and nothing else.

Whenever I feel down there is this one quote that always cheers me up. It says ‘ Being famous on Instagram is like being rich on monopoly’. Its all an illusion, which everyone will have to eventually come out of. I promise. Just hold on till that time comes. And till then remember being happy and healthy is more important than being pretty and popular.

Stay true to yourself and that’s what will always matter..

Comfort Zone

That quiet cozy corner in a place called life, where its so difficult to leave because it makes you feel at ease. It makes you feel safe. It has no growth. That’s the place I would like to call, and many would agree with me, the comfort zone.

In today’s world, it is because of this one place that people don’t move forward in their life or resist any change. The thought of some disturbance in that monotonous and simple life scares them. Taking up risks and opportunities are only for the brave. Are only for those who don’t have anything to lose, right?

WRONG! Doing what you feel like doing, not giving up on your dreams, keeping your sight on your goal are all a part of becoming  a better version of yourself. There is no need to be terrified my friend. It is from the strength to face the storm, that the plant realizes how strong it is and what all it can bare. If it dies in the process, it died trying.

You will never realize your full potential if you don’t try different things in life. It sounds scary; to raise your voice and ask for what you deserve or taking up that dance class you always wanted to or going for that school trip or starting a blog. But do it! Do it for yourself and no one else. Do it for that little child who had dreams much bigger than this planet. For that child who believed anything was possible. For that child who was filled with hope, and content, who never gave up on life.

No one reached anywhere by staying in there comfort zone. Katy Perry faced failure by three record companies before she got her big break. J.K.Rowling was turned down by 12 companies for her idea on Harry Potter. Oprah Winfrey was sexually abused and became pregnant at the tender age of 14!

It is out of that circle where the magic happens. Where adventures begin. You have to leave the city of your comfort and go into the wilderness of your intuition. Turn your ‘what ifs’ into ‘why not’. Turn your reluctance into confidence. Ask yourself everyday ‘ If this were my last day on earth, would I do what I am about to?’ It is by this process, that you win in life. It is by this process that you live….
